Importance of Moisturizing

This is where I live, no really it might as well be. I live in Las Vegas, but it is a desert. So you know there is exactly 0 moisture in the air, only every once in a while when we are lucky. Still no humidity whatsoever. So people around here love to say, "well its a dry heat you know."

Yes, I know. Along with my face that stays dry, and my poor, poor locs! So its important that I moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! So what I have decided to do is make my own up. Sure I use some over the counter stuff. But lets be real, we really don't know what the hell they are putting in that stuff anyways!

To moisturize my skin and hair I use:
  • Seseame seed oil
  • Olive oil
  • Primrose oil
  • 100% Coconut butter oil
  • Pure Rose water
Sesame seed oil contains vitamins A, B and E, magnesium, copper, calcium, iron, phosphorus and zinc. It also contains linolenic acid, alpha linolenic acid and lecithin, giving it some of it's amazing health properties. It is an antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory oil. The oil is 82% polyunsaturated fatty acids including omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9.

Olive oil is an emollient perfect for oiling the scalp (extra light virgin kind) and on your locs. Leaves no scent. It has been used for centuries for its beauty properties.

Beauty-wise, evening primrose oil is excellent for the skin, hair and nails if taken both internally and externally. Puncture a capsule with a pin and use the oil rubbed into the nails or applied to the skin and scalp. It is very nourishing for normal to dry skin and reduces acne inflammation.

NOTE: Evening primrose oil is not recommended during pregnancy.

Now, I like to mix a little of all of this up and use 100% coconut butter as my base for my face. I have used Shea butter as my base in the past. It just depends, I usually alternate!

For my hair, I mix all the ingredients up and as my base, I use rose water. I use this daily before leaving for work, and my hair is soft, and smells great throughout the day. If you have any questions email me!

Hi Queen Kiki!

I wash with the water unfortunately. I should use distilled but don't. Just as long as your shampoo is great, really that is all that matters, that and a good conditioner. Also, my hair is way too long to try and use fancy water. If I had maybe short to medium dreads I would wash my hair with bought water.

Try http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10448923 they have a full line of products. Also make sure to deeply condition your locs, and oil it with olive oil.

I am glad you found my info useful! Muah!
