On the Road to Queendom is a blog for women who are currently transitioning to locs or already loc'd. The purpose of the Queendom is to uplift, encourage, and spotlight beautifully loc'd women of color!

Just a quick update Queens! I went out to eat with the girls last night and had a good time. I rocked the locs to the side by twisting them, then securing with small black rubber bands. I rocked all black, and some turquoise pumps. The african print beaded bag also gave my outfit some pop. What do you ladies think?

Happy New Year!

Stay Blessed & Happy Locing!

Length Check

Hello Queens, Writing Addict checking in here. It's like 5 A.M. and I'm getting my day started. I don't have to tell you how busy I've been wit the non-profit, and everything else going on in my life.

Let's see, I've done a length check and my locs have grown about 3 or so inches. While wet they are at the seat of my butt, but of course while dry just at the top of it.

I think I found my answer for moisture . This Fall I found them to be dry, no bueno. So I mixed about 1/3 afro sheen in my leave in conditioner, and thouroughly misted my locs after
shampooing them. They feel so good!

Okay gotta run get my family, and myself ready.

I miss chatting with ya'll! Have a blessed day!

Long Time No Blog...

Queens!

Oh my goodness, it's been forever, right? So much has happened in these few months I haven't been able to blog. I mean for those of you who follow me around the web know I've been on Twitter and on Facebook, but I haven't slowed down enough to blog. Mentally I wasn't there...I know it sounds weird but it takes some focus to just sit down and pour your heart out on a blog. If you are on Twitter and Facebook you know it doesn't take any kind of mental capacity to just write 140 words or less; just look at your page and timeline.

What have I been up to? Well you know I'm deeply enthralled in my non-profit Purple W.I.N.G.S., I had to train around 10 new volunteers, I traveled to NYC to speak at a women's conference about Human Trafficking, and I had emergency mentee's I've had to get back into High School, and find services for. So after doing all of that, dealing with family, still editing for Kamoy Magazine with Loc'd Goddess Nerissa Irving, chile...I had little time to do anything else. Ya'll know I am ADHD so I 'm back in school! LOL

I am going for my DrPH, that is a doctorates in Public Health, I just love healthcare. Therefore, the work that I am doing, I felt I could have a better impact with my doctorates, plus I want to be able to teach on down the road.

So there you have it Queens, what I've been up to. Don't worry I am still rocking the locs, representing us well honey in every situation. Aside from people chasing me down to see if my hair is real, and flat out staring at me like I am a painting, nothing much has happened in the hair department. My hair has grown around 4 inches since my last trim! It is now at little past the top of my buttocks. Here are a few pictures of the hairstyles I've been rocking all summer, and most recently today!

By the way, I am so happy you all are patient and still fans of the blog. I am happy to be of resource, but my sister blogs have been holding it down! Like, Karen's Blog, Naturally Beautiful Hair! I love her and her hair blog. Even I need a lil pick me up by browsing all the beautiful hairstyles from time to time.

Love ya'll and I promise I won't stay gone too long again!

Stay Blessed & Happy Locing!

I'll be in New York!

Hey Queens, I will be in New York to attend the Women's Federation for World Peace Conference, "We, Unlocking the Power of We!" I will speak at this even on Aug 5th, but it is a 3 day long conference which will end with a gala. I have my dancing shoes ready, but am really nervous about how to wear my hair. This is New York, and I know they have been experiencing a heat wave. So my Queens any suggestions about how to wear my hair for this particular event?

Locd'Beauty of the Month

 Avia Locluptuious

Hi, my name is Avia. I'm a lady that can stand on her own two, but appreciates someone to lean on every now and then. I'm friendly, I love life, I love to have fun, and love being a Libra (Oct 19). Hey, if the crown fits, wear it! I have decided what I want ... KNOW I can have it, KNOW I deserve it, and KNOW it's possible for me.

Welcome Queens from Around the World!

To rock your locs confidently you must not seek acceptance, nor approval. You must demand respect in all of its highest forms by first respecting yourself.

Jah Bless!
