Domestic Violence Up-Front

October plays host to a lot of causes we support, but one in particular which hits close to home for me is, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I was once a victim of Domestic Abuse, I grew up around it, lost a dear close friend to it. I have been on the forefront of raising awareness for this all too common dis-ease within our community for years. With that being said, imagine my disgust and outrage (as you will be too) when I stumbled upon Media TakeOut when I saw the below images.

The happy couple above is 1/2 of the rap duo, Shawn Jay of Field Mob. His ex-girlfriend of two years, wrote in to Media TakeOut to out him accusing him of the disgusting abuse you see documented below. The young lady states that she was with him for two years; and during those 2 years he abused her. I know a lot of Queens could not imagine anyone hurting them this way, especially when you have never experienced domestic abuse.

Trust me, it is a cyclonic, psychotic, embarrassing, whirlwind of confusion, shame, and self-guilt. Women usually don't know how they end up in this type of situation anyway.

Women often stay in these type of situations, losing family and friends because of their decision to stay with the abuser.

The animalistic way she was savagely beaten is no surprise. Abusers hit hard, then they love hard. This is their way of keeping the harmful cycle alive.


I encourage anyone involved in a domestic abuse situation to seek help and spend time getting right with "self", not just try and "place someone on blast." No need to go there, instead take your life back by putting that animal in its rightful place, a jail cell. Get your glory back, your self-esteem, your life. Just imagine, this could have ended up very differently, this young lady could have lost her life, like these people.

I hope and pray this woman has a support system to leave the monster, to get help, and finally take her life back.
